On Sunday 13th, The girls and I went to the Sounds of Christmas at Mount Paran Church, a mega-church which is just up the road from us. We walked there, much to the girls' horror, but I didn't want to drive 200 metres just to get stuck in a queue of 1000 cars. The church is Huge; its website claims more than 10,000 members and there were at least 2000 people there on Sunday morning. The show was spectacular with fantastic music, singing and dancing by adults and children.
Jonathan has been attending a wound care conference in Florida Keys and this unexpected visitor climbed onto his balcony. A very impressive iguana but a bit of a surprise!
My work permit has finally arrived, hurrah, and I've started work. This is the most fabulous primary school music room I've ever seen (actually it's two rooms!) and it's a great space to teach music in. So far it's been jingle bells all the way practicing songs with various classes for the school concerts on 16th December.
On Sunday morning we went back to Kennesaw Mountain to actually walk up it! We went earlier in the day than last time, found a parking place quickly and managed to miss (phew) the shuttle bus to the top, much to the girls' disappointment!
On Thursday 3rd December, I was a parent helper on Kerstin's 3rd Grade trip to the very impressive Fernbank Museum of Natural History, which is comparable to Gothenburg's Universeum or London's Natural History Museum. It was the first time I have even been on a school trip as a parent instead of a teacher, and it was fun Not being responsible for everyone! Travelling on a yellow school bus was a new cultural experience which I hope I won't have to repeat too often. We had a short time to quickly take in the entire museum as we were booked to watch an incredible IMAX show about the 'wonders of the arctic', as well as listen to an excellent presentation about Georgia's different natural regions.
