We were all excited to be invited to our wonderful neighbour's graduation party this weekend. We are also sad though, as this means she will be going away to college this coming autumn. The highlight of the event was the food served by Waffle House, her favourite local eatery, which the girls were thrilled about. Their important job at the party was to hand out Waffle House hats to everyone attending which they loved!
Today we enjoyed the Atlanta Swedish School sommar avslutning with presentations and singing from each class. Both girls presented in Swedish; Claudia talked about Gothenburg in her group's presentation of the regions of Sweden, while Kerstin's group presented information about the Middle Ages which they have been studying this year. Then it was time for singing the Swedish national anthem and Den blomstertid nu kommer followed by fika and a family tipspromenad (quiz trail). Helt underbart!
Today, Claudia celebrated her birthday with a party consisting of laser tag and gravity ropes at the local Main Event indoor entertainment centre. It was hopefully a once in a lifetime event and it was definitely a cultural, and noisy experience for us! The girls had a fabulous time!
It's been an exciting Birthday for Claudia; celebrating early this morning with a surprise birthday treats box and balloon (a healthy change this year from giant cookie cakes!) followed by school, then an early dinner at her choice of local diner, followed by an end of term mini concert and annual art exhibition back at school in the evening. Phew! Now she just has her party to look forward to on Saturday... Yesterday, we enjoyed the end of term presentation at Kerstin's robotics club, followed immediately by Claudia's drama club performance. Kerstin had designed and built two different robots this term, one being a robotic arm, which was very impressive. She also demonstrated her programming of a drone by controlling it to take off, fly through a hoop and land in a designated spot. She was the only member of the group of 7 (the others are all boys this term) to successfully do this.
Meanwhile, Claudia had one of the leading roles as the narrator/tortoise in their end of term production at the after-school drama club. Claudia did a fantastic job showing her gymnastics skills today at the end of the year showcase at her Gymnastics club. She performed two different floor/dance routines to music in a group, as well as demonstrated individual skills on different equipment. We were very impressed!
