Today we went on our first outing to Piedmont Park, which is about 15-20 minutes drive away in the midtown area of the city. It's Atlanta's answer to Central Park (or Slottsskogen in Gothenburg) and is also home to the highly rated Botanical Gardens (which we're saving for another day.) Today was the annual Arts Festival in the Park with hundreds of stalls, food trucks and all sorts of fun activities. The weather was perfect (for Susan!) at 30 degrees celsius. Everyone has told us that no one walks here and that there's nowhere to walk and no 'sidewalks' to walk on anyway. So today (while Jonathan and the girls were working very hard at school and work) I decided to Take A Walk From The House... You'll be pleased to know that recycling happens in Atlanta! Everything gets collected from outside the house once a week, we don't even need to sort it first, unlike Sweden. However, you can see the corner of our SUV, one of our two cars, in the picture. Sadly, no points given for helping the planet here.
On Monday evening we drove a mere 5 minutes to the huge local shopping mall with 150 shops. The girls made themselves right at home in the Apple Store. You can guess what's top of their current wish list!
We were invited out for Sunday brunch with one of Jonathan's work colleagues. Yum! This evening we all shared what we give thumbs up for so far... Claudia:

'Thumbs down" to traffic jams, having to drive everywhere, and that we're missing all our friends in Sweden. Here we are walking home from the school bus into the drive of our 'gated community'. There are two very friendly ladies who work as security personnel in the guard house. What a complete contrast to our street in Sweden!
